Trans Fat Free

Columbia Dining is Trans Fat-Free

Columbia Dining recognizes the health risks associated with using trans fats, and we are proud to be have launched a comprehensive program that includes the following measures to reduce use across campus:

1. TRANS FAT FREE OIL

Canola Clear oil is used in all dining locations. This heart-friendly oil contains no artificial ingredients or additives, is low in saturated fat, has zero cholesterol, and contains naturally occurring Omega-3 fatty acids.

2. TRANS FAT FREE FRENCH FRIES

All french fries have been replaced with Lamb Weston fries, including crinkle fries, shoestring fries, hashbrown patties, and sweet potato fries.

3. MARGARINE ELIMINATION

All margarine in recipes has been replaced with either butter, which is trans fat-free, or other healthy fat alternatives (olive oil or canola oil).

4. OTHER TRANS FAT FREE PRODUCTS

We carry Tyson Chicken's line of trans fat-free products in John Jay Dining Hall, Ferris Booth Commons, & JJ's Place.  Additionally, we offer organic, trans fat-free peanut butter in the dining halls.
