Your Feedback in Action
The Columbia Dining program is for you – our plateholders! We take your feedback seriously. Undergraduate students on a Dining Plan recently completed the 2023 survey and here’s what you said.
Eating on campus is one of the highlights of my day! I appreciate the time, effort, creativity, skill, and professionalism on display at each dining location. Thank you for everything!
You know you can rely on our team for consistent, timely service, a variety of dining options, and an enjoyable atmosphere to relax or meet friends.
Columbia Dining offers you a quality food service program, but you would like to see more variety in menu or healthy options.
Chef Mike’s Sub Shop and Faculty House are welcome additions to the Dining portfolio.
Based on your feedback, starting this fall JJ's will be open 22 hours, 7 days a week.
Plus, Ferris Booth Commons will open for brunch on Sundays, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., then for dinner from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Additional Input from Students
Here’s what else we’re working on for you:
Focus on the basics: across our locations, we’re making sure our entire team offers you the best customer service experience, whether it’s the greeting at the door or staying on top of cleaning in between diners.
Perfecting our pie at Chef Don’s Pizza Pi: including the bake time, amount of sauce, cheese melt, and more conventional special toppings. We’re already rolling out these adjustments based on your feedback, stop by for a pi and let us know what you think.
I really appreciate the new dining options (Chef Mike's, Chef Don's, Faculty House) and feel heard.
We want you to be Ferris Forever: so we’re adding panini presses to warm your sandwiches, introducing wraps into sandwich selections, spicing up the specials at the action station, offering new toppings at the salad bar, ensuring we stay stocked up on drinks and ice cream over the weekend, and making sure we cook the chicken just the way you like it.
JJ’s Fam is here for you: adding more Halal and grilled chicken specials to the menu (sandwiches, rice bowls, and more), highlighting vegan and vegetarian items that are Halal, introducing rice bowls into the rotation more often, expanding the options of Take 4 items, keeping those sauces stocked up – including Ranch!
John Jay staples: incorporating different cuts and flavors of chicken across all stations, including more healthy options at each meal, offering more fruit and dessert options, offering a DIY breakfast sandwich station, installing ACs in the seating area, plus the little things – like pickles, dressing, and vegan granola. We’re on it!
Clearly, you all care deeply about the student experience and it shows in the quality and consistency of your offerings, and with the smiles and warm reception you offer us every day.
Thanks for your feedback. In recognition of your participation, Dining is making a $689 donation to the Food Pantry. We are working to be the best for you every day and always want to know how we’re doing: send us an email, use our feedback form, or send us a text.
