Ramadan Observance 2026

This year, Ramadan begins the evening of Tuesday, February 17. 

Expanded Halal Options at JJ's Place

• From 9 -11 p.m., students can request a packaged hot Halal meal, which will mirror the Halal entree served at John Jay.
   
• Halal beef bacon will be available as a protein option at the omelet station. As a reminder, the beef burgers used year-round at JJ's Place are halal. 
   
• Expanded bakery selection in the mornings, including bagels, pastries, and donuts.
   

More Dining Options

• Our residential dining locations have evening hours so students can still come in for dinner to break the fast. See our Spring 2026 operating hours.

• To-go containers are available at the cashier stand to pack food to take home for your evening meal.
• In conjunction with Religious Life, Columbia Dining is sponsoring Iftar meals on February 23, March 2, March 3, and March 9.
• For students who observe Ramadan and will be on campus over Spring Recess, note adjusted hours of operation. Students can request a courtesy to-go container from Ferris before closing at 7 p.m.
