New Dining Location: Chef Mike’s Sub Shop at Uris Deli

On January 18, Chef Mike’s Sub Shop at Uris Deli will open for lunch and dinner service, Monday-Friday, 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

What’s on the Menu 

Chef Mike’s Sub Shop is going to serve – you guessed it – subs! But not just any subs. Subs like Chef Mike’s own grandmother used to make. Every day will offer a selection of hot and cold oversized subs, prepared fresh by our team. To get your mouth watering, here’s a sneak peek of the most drool-worthy subs on the menu, all served on a 9-inch semolina roll: 

  • Chef Mike’s Grandma’s Special (the inspiration for our sub shop): Italian sausage and sautéed broccoli rabe doused with roasted-garlic infused olive oil. A vegan version made with Beyond Sausage will also be served. Some say it was the sandwich that launched a thousand ships – or something like that. 

  • Honey Maple Delight Sub: thinly sliced maple honey ham with muenster cheese, dressed with shredded lettuce, roasted red peppers and honey Dijon mustard. Because maple-flavored anything is fire. 

  • Vegan Italian Jackfruit Sub: Italian-spiced jackfruit with vegan mozzarella, topped with tri-color roasted peppers and a garlicky balsamic dressing. It has all the yummy Italian flavor you could ask for, without any animal products. 

  • Vegan Hummus, White Bean, Arugula & Beets Sub: hummus, roasted beets, cannellini beans, pico de gallo, and fresh arugula bathed in a red wine vinegar vinaigrette. It’s the sub with all the color, AND all the flavor. 

And for our gluten-free friends: a gluten-free bread option that can be swapped into any sub, so you never have to miss out on the gastronomic goodness. 

Plus, sides on sides on sides! Each sub is paired with a choice of soup, fruit, dessert, and beverage. We don’t want to give everything away – because spoilers, amIrite? – but the side options are delish. We’ll be serving the same great soups you know and love from other campus locations, including homestyle chicken noodle and spicy black bean, as well as home-baked cookies and brownies. We’re feeling hungry just writing about it.

How It Works 

  • Pay by meal swipe, Dining Dollars, Flex, guest swipe, or credit card ($15.95) at the door. 

  • Pick your sub and grab a soup, side, beverage and dessert – that’s all included as one meal. Subs cannot be purchased separately from sides. The door price applies to the entire meal. 

  • Take your meal to go. Chef Mike’s Sub Shop will not have indoor seating to start, pending University COVID-19 protocol. 

  • Tell all your friends about the best sub on campus!

A Love Affair for the Ages: Chef Mike & Sandwiches 

We know you know our Executive Chef Michael DiMartino (AKA Chef Mike). But did you know he loves sandwiches?  

It all started when Chef Mike was just a boy in Brooklyn. His grandma served him a sandwich that was just *chef’s kiss* mwah. We’d tell you the story, but only Chef Mike can do it justice.

Our commitment to sustainability carries into all our locations. That’s why our napkins and to-go soup containers are made from post-consumer recycled content, and we use compostable packaging whenever possible. Be sure to compost your sub paper and beverage cup at another Dining location when you’ve finished your meal!
